In order for an aircraft to be fit for flight, a maintenance program and airworthiness management with a valid airworthiness inspection are required. The party supervising the airworthiness ensures that the aircraft is functional and safe to fly. The airworthiness manager performs or oversees an annual airworthiness inspection.

Airworthiness can be extended for up to three years if the inspection is made in a controlled environment. The inspection is applicable for one year and includes an airworthiness certificate.
